to R:
1.
Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation
The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation awards one-year scholarships
ranging from $1,000-$12,500 to deserving children of Marines and
children of former Marines, with particular attention being given to
children whose parent was killed or wounded in action.
Eligibility: child of a Marine, GPA minimum 2.0, adjusted
family
gross income $80,000 or less

McKelvey Foundation Entrepreneurial Scholarship Award
Awards are based solely on demonstration of entrepreneurial
spirit.
Eligibility: own and operate a genuine business, including
non-profits; have at least one paid employee; graduate in 2010; attend
four-year college

McLeod Volunteer Auxiliary Scholarship
$500 per semester
Eligibility: GPA minimum 3.0, SAT 800 /ACT 21, plan to study
a
health-related career at an accredited college

McNair Scholars Program at Francis Marion University
The Governor Robert E. McNair Scholarship Program provides full
tuition, room and board at FMU. Eligibility: GPA minimum 3.0,
SAT
1100/ACT 24, interest in a public service career, willing to commit to
study abroad and service learning opportunities while enrolled at FMU

5.
Monsanto Agriculture Scholarship
Monsanto awards $1500 scholarships to high school seniors from a farm
family who have above average academic record, enroll full-time in
postsecondary institution in agriculture-related major or forestry,
essay required

6.
National Co-op Scholarship Program
This program awards 200 renewable scholarships of $6,000
each.
Students must attend one of their 10 partner
colleges/universities. This includes Johnson and Wales
University
in Charlotte.
Eligibility: GPA minimum 3.5/4.0, acceptance at one of the
National Commission Partner institutions, essay required

7. Navy
ROTC Scholarship
This program awards $180,000 scholarship; Navy commitment required
during sophomore year of college. Service options:
Navy,
navy nurse. Graduation and completion result in commissioning
in
US Navy.

9. Odom
Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2008 by Jo Ellen and Bill Odom,
former graduates of Lake City High School, to provide financial
assistance to a deserving student.
Eligibility: GPA range of 2.8-3.2, part-time employment,
participation in extracurricular activities financial need
Applications are available in guidance.

10. Pee
Dee Minority Teacher Recruitment Program
(Pee Dee Minority Teacher Loan Application)
Funding is available through the Pee Dee Minority Teacher Recruitment
Center if you enroll in a teacher education program at any
state-supported or private college in South Carolina. A loan
of
$1000 per year is available and can be renewed annually.
There
are other guidelines for students who qualify and complete a teacher
education program. Applications are available in the guidance
office in the spring and the Pee Dee Education Center on Francis Marion
Road in Florence.

11. Post
and Courier Minority Newspaper Scholarship
The Post and Courier newspaper in Charleston, SC offers a $6,000
scholarship to a South Carolina high school minority student planning a
career in the newspaper business. To apply, minority students
must be residents of South Carolina and must be accepted for admission
into the USC School of Journalism and Mass Communications.
Students must major in the newspaper track of the electronic and print
sequence. Application information and forms are available at
www.jour.sc.edu.
12.
Prudential Spirit of Community Awards
These awards recognize middle and high school students who have
demonstrated exemplary community service. Volunteers should
complete an application online at www.prudential.com/spirit or
www.principals.org/prudential by October 31. (access key:
spirit). Print out application and submit it to guidance
counselor or to the head of one of these officially designated local
organizations: Girl Scout council, county 4-H group, American
Red
Cross chapter, YMCA, or affiliate of Hands On Network.

Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship Program
Eligibility: GPA minimum 3.5, SAT 1300/ ACT 29, one
application
per 100 seniors per school

14. Ron
Brown Scholar Program
The Ron Brown Scholar Program is a national program that awards
scholarships to academically talented, highly motivated
African-American high school seniors who intend to pursue undergraduate
degrees full-time. These scholarships are reserved for
exceptional individuals who share Brown’s traits of
excellence,
leadership, commitment to public service and a desire to make a
difference. Applicants must demonstrate financial need.
Deadline: November 1st for Ron Brown Scholar Program and
additional programs

Ronald McDonald House Charities Scholarship Program
Eligibility: academic achievement, financial need, community
involvement, leadership potential, personal statement
Applications are available by mail upon request by calling
1-800-310-4053 or online (access code needed on application is RMHC).

16. Dr.
Ronald E. McNair Memorial Scholarship Program
Eligibility: above average achievement in high school
including
academic and extracurricular involvement, rank in top 25% of graduating
class, SAT 950 or ACT 20, GPA of 3.5, 3.5 average in five science
courses, acceptance by accredited institution of higher learning, major
in a science-related field
Applications available after December 15 in guidance.
Deadline: April 15 for receipt by Ron McNair Scholarship
